Individual Counselling

Individual counselling, also known as individual therapy or simply therapy, provides an opportunity to meet one-on-one with a therapist in a non-judgemental, safe, and confidential space.

This space is yours to explore whatever it is that you need, even if you don’t necessarily know what that is yet. Our therapists will help you to distill what is important to you and your healing, and to work through thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns. During an individual counselling session, you are invited to share what you feel comfortable sharing about your experience and what brings you.

Our therapists may offer various strategies, tools, and exercises, however the space is yours, so you will always have the option to choose what feels right for you, to say yes to what resonates, and to say no to whatever may not jive. A main goal of individual counselling is to help you achieve greater insight into your lived experience and challenges, develop new coping skills, and improve overall psychological well-being.

Is individual counselling right for me?

Individual counselling provides help for a wide range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. It also is a space for you to work through the natural sense of stress, isolation, grief, and exhaustion that we all experience as humans living in these incredibly frenetic and unstable times. Over time, individual therapy supports you to improve your communication skills, set compassionate boundaries, and better navigate relationships and conflict.

Therapists provide strategies to approach difficult situations and emotions. Individual therapy helps you connect with a sense of inner knowing and stability, leading to greater self-awareness and personal growth. Whether you would like to address what is keeping you feeling stuck and overwhelmed, or continue to expand on an already meaningful path, we will work together towards your truest self and most fulfilling life.

How long does the process take?

How long depends on you and your intention for therapy. If you are looking for short term therapy you can expect approximately 6-12 sessions that focus on practical solutions. With longer term therapy (12 sessions +) you can expect to work at a deeper and more nuanced level to address longstanding patterns and work towards a more whole and fulfilling life. We recommend regular appointments and consistency, especially at first, however, we understand and respect that this may not be realistic for everyone. Ultimately, it is up to you. You do not need to know now, you are always welcome to change the frequency of your sessions, should our schedules be able to accommodate, or discontinue therapy at any time.

WE ARE HERE TO SUPPORT YOU

Our therapists work from a place of compassion and view you as a whole person.
